This is what happens when you let your friends who call themselves 'experts' help you. Dont always believe what people tell you.
http://picasaweb.google.com/SRT4Kitty/WRXBentValves It was supposed to be a simple timing belt replacement but aparently my friend didnt know what he was doing and now I have bent valves and possibly more. I would also like to emphasize that when we tried to start the car and it didnt start I asked him if he made any bad noises (cause I was inside the car and he was in front of the engine.) He replied with 'no....i dont think so....i mean, it always sounds like that right?' Then after that he pretty much said 'well im sure its just some connector not hooked up or something...well I gotta go... ' WEAK.... _________________ ~Kleeny http://www.myspace.com/srt4kitty 1995 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe - NYG (daily) 2002 Subaru WRX - WRB 2003 Dodge SRT4 - Solar Yellow (track) |

I honestly dont know much about WRX's either. This is pretty much my harsh way of having to learn. So far I think theyre 10x more expensive and 10x more complicated...or maybe its just how cluttered they are that makes them seem complicated. Im hoping to get the heads off this coming weekend and find out the full extent. It also appears that my turbo is leaking major oil so Im trying to figure out how to change the seals on them and if its too hard looking into possibly getting a new turbo. Also, if anyone knows someone who does port n polish for a decent price round here lemme know. Obveiously im not getting a whole lot of support from the subie community so thanks a bunch for your support... _________________ ~Kleeny http://www.myspace.com/srt4kitty 1995 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe - NYG (daily) 2002 Subaru WRX - WRB 2003 Dodge SRT4 - Solar Yellow (track) |

I'm gonna guess that when the valves went, the turbo went. It wouldn't be far fetched to think that a chunk of metal seperated itself from a valve and got into the turbo. You might just be better off buying a new EJ25 shortblock and build it up. God on;y knows what else is all f'd up. In fact..I wouldn't be suprised if you holed a piston.

I dont think so. The engine never turned over when the valves bent. Plus Ive been smelling burning oil for a while just didnt know where.... thought it was the cat delete then maybe the oil brand...

cool to see finally the workings of a WRX/boxer. a few things different come to mind:
timing must be a little headache. balancing two banks on a four cylinder... Cams are nice and small, but i guess there are 2x as many. Cost effective? I would like to see the crank on one of theese puppies. If pistons had looks, WRX pistons are ugly. I for sure know that bent valves are ugly. Man that gap is ugly on those bent valves. what a fruitwalk, the dude who "helped" you out then bailed. You sure do have alot of room for boring on that block, huh? |

You sure do have alot of room for boring on that block, huh? well clearly...timing isnt easy since thats how this happend. Cams are tiny, but i cant afford new ones so theyre awesome for now hehe Pistons are fine so i dont have to take them out so no crank pics for you. Valves are ugly...cant wait to get them out and really get a look at them. No boring...can bearly afford what I need to to get the car back together. =( Yes Colin is a flake... but you live you learn. _________________ ~Kleeny http://www.myspace.com/srt4kitty 1995 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe - NYG (daily) 2002 Subaru WRX - WRB 2003 Dodge SRT4 - Solar Yellow (track) |

Yea, just to go on record, I was NOT the dude who was helping her when this happened.
I tried to help her figure it out after all that happened, but haven't been able to stop by for the tear down. |

I think thats pretty obveious it wasnt you. Id be making that shit known if it was.
So MATT and I were working on the WRX and the timing messed up because MATT didnt know what he was talking about and then MATT just walked out cause MATT's a real flake and Im totally upset with MATT because he isnt bothering to help the situation. hehe j/k IT WAS NOT MATT. _________________ ~Kleeny http://www.myspace.com/srt4kitty 1995 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe - NYG (daily) 2002 Subaru WRX - WRB 2003 Dodge SRT4 - Solar Yellow (track) |
