No, but we did have to lockup the engine and sweve to avoid. We just had an accident with out new ambulance with less than 150mi on it last week due to a similar situation. Brand new $185,000 ambulance now out of service for an unknown length of time..all becuase someone wasnt paying attention.

For what it's worth, a 65,000lb engine with 1000gal of water on it doesn't handle like a corvette..even with independent front suspension.

About a year ago in Stevens Point, a teenage girl failed to yield to a cop car at an intersection and she was killed in the following accident. The officer was found at fault though..

Yep, probably because he was driving near 80mph through a red...like most cops do. They think they are invincible and nothing will ever happen. I've had enough close calls to understand that, retards like the one I ran into today, happen, and it's usually best to not drive like an absolute dick.

If anyone cares...watch this video to see what we see on a pretty much, everyday basis. People become retarded the second the lights go on, and I always stress to new drivers, act like you are a wounded lamb, and you are amongst starving wolves..somewere, someone WILL get you. Not a matter of if, but when.

Now, just imagine one of those cars hitting a responding emergency vehicle. How much longer does that fire burn unchecked, or that heart attack or stroke go untreated because someone wasnt paying attention.

Sorry for all my ranting everyone, but, I was really hoping this kid was on here so he would apologize for his mistake today. It's unfortunate that we can't hunt down those who fail to yield and get them cited properly.

That video is horrifying....I think we should show that video in schools during drivers education, then atleast the newer drivers would have a new found respect for the road. Then maybe we should air it on a national news network and scare a little cautiousness into the current drivers who are oblivious to how quickly not paying attention can cause death.

I wish there was a way for me to use my dash camera and report the idiot/reckless drivers i see to the police, but they dont care unless the cop sees it first hand.....which is understandable. Since I cant do that, then it be nice if the police atleast make it legal for us to follow and then beat up the idiot drivers....j/k

    ......maybe

The problem is people just don't give a fuck, but they are the first to ask why it took so long to get there when we show up. I can't count the number of times I've nearly been hit in Milwaukee. It's gotten to the point where I block an entire lane on a two lane street, and usually try to take part of the next just to force people to slow down. I don't worry about getting shot or stabbed in the city, I worry the most about getting run down. I got rear ended once after pulling up on a scene, 230 in the afternoon, resdential area, 25mph limit. Got hit by a drunk doing 65. Thankfully I checked my mirror before stepping out, or I'd be dead..only ended up with a small piece of bone chipped off my right kneecap. He ended up in prision for a year, permanent revocation, and nearly 50k in fines.
